Shigaraki ware, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, is located in Shiga Prefecture. The artwork of Yutaka Kou is based on the ancient Shigaraki pottery that has been at the core of Japanese aesthetics since the 12th century.
The distinctive reddish hue of Shigaraki pottery gives a subdued and slightly imperfect impression, as if the clay has taken shape in its natural form.
Dozens of carved areas on the interior add rhythm and strength to the rugged clay texture.
Drinking sake from this cup seems to enhance the atmosphere, inviting you to indulge in a deeper drinking experience.
